Cordyceps
I found this Cordycep growing on an unburried insect. It looks different from previous C militaris finds with its bulbous head. It doesn't fit with any of the more unusual species so is it just a slim C militaris? It is c30mm long with the head 1x2mm.

Hi Mal,


These do have the normal shades of orange colouration, and "granular" appearance, so I'd think it's C.militaris.

I've seen a few that have been contorted and thin like this, and assume that the bulbous head is one more variant withing its range.

Thanks for that Mike. All of my previous finds of this species have been from 1/3 to 2/3 "head" rather than just this bulbous apex.
