Unidentified fungus on lawn

This is growing on my lawn at the moment. There is a Rowan tree just over a metre away. The largest cap is 12cm across, the average diamater is around 8cm. The flesh has a dry texture and smells pleasantly 'mushroomy'.



An ID would be much appreciated.

hi and welcome to WAB

unfortunately the reason this fungus has a dry texture may well be down to the fact that it is highly dessicated; in this state unless one could check the micro-characters under a microscope an accurate ID is impossible (even then it might not be easy)

if growing with rowan it might possibly turn out to be an Entoloma but . . . .

if it fruits again after we get some rain please send some photo's of it in the fresh state - you have done the right thing in showing the gills cutting a section and so on
