| | | cortinarius violaceus I uploaded this photo yesterday into library images, confidently identifying it as cortinarius violaceus.Then I read some posts and realised cortinarius fungi can be a bit tricky to pin down.  Can someone verify that this is cortinarius violaceus? I found it in August, in grass, in heavy shade, under birch and aspen trees. Astonishing colour once you notice it. |

| | | Re: cortinarius violaceus Yes, this is one you can confidently identify in the field, provided that you are familiar with its distinctive features, and you don't need to bring it back home to identify it. It is Cortinarius violaceus.
