| | | Id help required please I found this fungus growing amongst some nettles in a field grazed by sheep near bristol.Approx 100-130 mm tall with a cap approx 60mm plus.stipe approx 7/8mm width.Any help will be much appreciated.Identity required if possible for photograph collection.I am not familiar with this one and it is not in my hugh fearnley book .  |

| | | Re: Id help required please yes with a volva and pink gills (spores) Volvariella is a certainty but this specimen looks a bit small for V.gloiocephala, but I am not very familiar with the other species.

The point being made is that it was felt these were on the small side, but I believe that is all they are - just small.
Were there quite a few more in the vicinity - there usually are.

| | | Re: Id help required please Ahh i see thanks for that . it was a single specimen,although i have read that they can be found as singles or in groups.I may have under estimated size a little but not by much,i am usually quite good at guesstimates  .The cap size i read can vary from 5cm to 15cm so it is within reason if the cap size info i read is true.I stated stipe width as 7/8mm where it is stated 10-15mm.i may have underguesstimated this a tad.
