found this in a wood that contained mainly birch and hazel trees but also some conifers.can anybody help id it please..it was a sort of lilac colour with a darker nipple on the cap(almost purple)it was only small,approx 25mm in diameter and about 50mm high.gills were white.

Based on description alone, my suggestion would be Violet Domecap - Rugosomyces ionides (formerly Calocybe ionides)

It's photos on an external link thingy, like Photobucket, that aren't allowed: load your pics to the Image Library here by following Mike's instructions in the earlier post.
