| | | What has happened to it ? Does anybody know what the position is regarding Stefan Buczacki's long awaited new fungi book ?
If it is not brought out soon, he will miss the rush.

| | | Re: What has happened to it ? Cheers Mike, a shame really as there are quite a few books on edibles floating about and I was hoping the new Buczacki book would knock them for 6 !

| | | Re: What has happened to it ? Also, the new (English language) version of Marcel Bon's "Mushrooms and Toadstools of Britain and North West Europe, (A&C Black Publishers), is supposedly due for UK publication on 30th November 2011.
Must admit though, I'm not holding my breath for either of them.
They have both had several previous publication dates given out in the past - all of which came and went without either of the books being on sale.

| | | Re: What has happened to it ? Harper Collins are now saying that the UK publication date for the new Buczacki Collins Fungi Guide is 12th April 2012.
This book seems to have had more proposed publication dates than there will be fungi species described within it.
And the fact that there is still nothing whatsoever on A&C Black's website regarding the Marcel Bon book, doesn't look good for the "alleged" publication date for that one either.
Ah well, it should give them the opportunity to revise everything in accordance with the latest updates of the basidiochecklist.

Looks like this might actually happen as booksellers are taking pre-publication orders.
I've pre-ordered and have had confirmation of delivery expected by 15th May.
Best price I've seen for the hardback version is £22.75 from Amazon and WHSmith (rrp. is £35.00)
(Paperback publication date is currently set for 27th September, with rrp of £19.99.) Quote:

Regards,
Mike, | Maybe he's got fed up with all the nomenclature changing that's going on as the genetic info gathering continues apace.

| | | Re: What has happened to it ? Well - the publication date of 10th May has come and gone, and those of us who pre-ordered the book are informed that the supplier is having trouble obtaining stock, and that a revised delivery date will be provided in due course.
It seems somewhat ridiculous that a book described as "The most complete field guide to the mushrooms & toadstools of Britain & Ireland", should first be published in Australia and Canada, (see: Collins Fungi Guide : Stefan Buczacki, Chris Shields and Denys Ovenden - HarperCollins),
resulting in supply problems for those of us in the region covered - i.e. Britain and Ireland.
However, for those still interested in obtaining a copy, there is now a good "look inside" feature, which shows quite a number of pages from the book, available here: Collins Fungi Guide (Signing into Amazon allows more pages, including a good number of the illustrations etc. to be viewed).

| | | Re: What has happened to it ? I went into Jarrold's of Norwich last Friday and they confirmed it was due out May 10, but all they could say is that it had an Amazon 4.5 out of 5 'star' rating, but couldn't say who rated it.
I'm bloody annoyed about the whole thing, potential customers do not deserve to be treated like this.

If it was printed at Clays, Bungay (Norwich). It would have been with you a week ago. For some reason the publisher chose to print and bind it in Hong Kong so you'll have to wait for the slow boat.
