| | | Young Bracket
Just been checking up on the local Meripilus as yesterday we found two more infected beech trees on the road. (Call out to the council at the moment ). Found this young bracket on the tree which was felled 3 years ago. It's obviously rather yummy for whatever is tunnelling into it (I'm presuming a moth because the frass seems to be held together with silk). Pores are very small: any suggestions? |

| | | Re: Young Bracket I'm inclined to opt for Ganoderma applanatum or australe, but I would normally have expected to see the white fertile surface swell up a bit more and be more prominent than the upper surface even.

| | | Re: Young Bracket Not that much left of it now: the context is mainly Lepdiopteran! However, the pores have shown up on part of it and are quite large and elongated (this is the fragment I cut to look at the caterpillars). |
