giant puffballs are back

went to a field on the isle of wight today and picked 3 giant puffballs ,and other smaller ones growing.

i just love them,they have a sort of wow ! factor about them.i have seen some believe it or not on our local round about amongst the plants there.just within the last couple of day i have seen and recorded in my books some common puffs and some pestle puffs. i think these are one of my favourite mushrooms. enjoy ..

yer there seem to a lot about when i was in the field i counted 15 small puff balls probely baby giant ones.the three we picked were big.lovely smell too

We took 10 children out on a mini fungi foray at the weekend to learn a bit about what they did in nature etc. It would have been very interesting to see their reaction to a giant puffball. They do have that awe and wonder look about them- even to me as an adult.
