This Fungi was growing on an Apple tree in an Orchard
I've not been able to identify myself and i'm afraid the pics aren't great but any help would be great.
Thanks |

| | | Re: ID Fungi Please I'd guess at a young Polyporus squamosus / Dryads Saddle , although the base of the stem should be black and it will develop tougher flesh with speckles as it matures if it is. But that's just a guess
Hope this helps

| | | Re: ID Fungi Please This looks to be too golden for Polyporus badius and too thick so I am going to rule this one out, it also seems too big for other Polypores except P.squamosus but I see no scales on the cap which seems to be smooth.
So over to somebody else

| | | Re: ID Fungi Please I call either P. leptocephalus or P. durus. That wavy edge and golden colour. Sure, I'd expect the latter to have a more wine red hue, but I have seen it with a golden 'twinge'. Of course seeing the foot of the stipe would decide if it was the former. |

It just has to be P.duras then as this is too big and not right for leptocephalus.

Neil. | I thought about the size thing but couldn't think of anything else.
I had to check which was the more recent name, so don't fret | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
