| | | unknown under larch Hello These were found at the base of an old larch which in turn was in a small group of birch, oak and beech. They are covered in a fairly thick down. I thought they were perhaps myxos at first so decided to cut one open , inside they are beautifully zoned and fairly firm. They ranged from an inch to around 3 inches in size growing on a very short stem.
I think they are at a young stage and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on what they are.

You'll notice how many names have been bounced about for this fungus in past threads - I think Postia ptychogaster is the current one - with the caveat that other fungi (eg other Postia species) may produce a similar anamorph.
