| | | Oak fungus ID please
Found in leaf litter under Oak with Birch nearby.
Cap is 50mm with 90mm stalk.
Cap is a pale yellow and the stalk is pale yellow to the collar (unclear in pictures). The rest of the stalk is a creamy white.
Green cabbage smell when cut.
Please provide identification. |

| | | Re: Oak fungus ID please It's tempting to say this is Amanita citrina var.alba, but as you describe the cap as pale yellow, I guess this is just plain A.citrina with over-exposure making it whiter than white.

| | | Re: Oak fungus ID please Green cabbage smell is a bit like potato perhaps.. That's the usual description for a. citrina's whiff. About right for what I get off them, but then the 'smell' of mushroom's is a difficult business, most just smell mushroomy, and those that are distinctive, everyone gets something slightly different! |

Smells are very subjective. A good question - what's a mushroom smell of ? My sense of smell is sometimes a little off the mark. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
