| | | Re: Gilled Fungi for id please I think people have probably ducked out of identifying some of these because of the lack of clues to help with narrowing down the options.
No. 2 has the look of a Gomphidius but a wider shot showing the whole mushroom would have been helpful.
No. 3 is Panaeolus papilionaceus (formerly P. sphinctrinus).
No. 6 is Hygrocybe chlorophana.

| | | Re: Gilled Fungi for id please I can't quite make out if the gill attachment is adnate or free, but if so, then No 1 could be Hebeloma mesophaeum.
No 4 may be the same, dunno.
No 5 Lycoperdon perlatum I think people have hesitated as this is very spiky and are wondering if it could be L.echinatum but this is recorded more often in the south.

| | | Re: Gilled Fungi for id please Lycoperdon perlatum has pyramidal ornamentation I think but No5 has ornamentation made up of convergent hairs like L nigrescens and others it might even be the very rare Lycoperdon pedicellatum. Don't suppose you did anything silly like collecting it

Becky, I think that white spiky Puffball is too important to pass by on.
If another comes up or you still have the old one, could you consider drying it and getting it shipped off to Kew ? Mal has suggested this could be the v rare Lycoperdon pedicillatum - I've never seen this, but looking it up, I think there is a good possibily it could be this.

| | | Re: Gilled Fungi for id please Sorry for really late reply! I realised I'm still logged in but was away on holiday for a fortnight. Wow! I'm away again (having been here all summer) for a fortnight. I guess it'll be too late to go and look for this specimen upon my return? I'll certainly keep my eyes open next year at any rate. That's potentially really exciting! Thanks everyone. Apologies again.
