| | | Three ID's from a newbie Hi everyone. Found these in the woods today. I think one is a cep which I'm quite excited about. It was located at the foot of some Beech trees. No Idea about the other two.
I was looking for Chanterelles. My friend in Sweden picks them by the bucket load starting in august. What is the best time to find them in the uk?

| | | Re: Three ID's from a newbie hi and welcome to WAB
it might be an idea to check out these stickies . . . . That time of year again Is my fungus edible or psychotic requests
this website is more about the study of fungi than picking them "by the bucket-load" really
oh - and yes, one of those is indeed a Boletus edulis
Chris

| | | Re: Three ID's from a newbie Thanks for the reply Chris. My OP wasn't worded very well. When I said "By the bucket load" I was merely stating they were abundant where my friend lives and wondered if they were common here. It was an unfortunate choice of phrase. I'm only interested id ID really! |

| | | Re: Three ID's from a newbie Ok
the left hand one is Suillus luteus and I think the middle one is in the Boletus erythropus / luridiformis complex - there are others on WAB who know their boletes better than I do, mind
cheers
Chris

At risk of upsetting eunatural, i am going to make a comment here.
I, and I'm sure many other regular fungi wabbers, are very keen to advise the inexperienced who have a genuine interest in fungi other than merely for culinary use. The culinary aspect of fungi seems to be all eunatural talks about since she joined WAB and I honestly do not feel any inclination to help such a person if it is only going to assist them to raid the woodlands even more.

Sorry Tracey.
