New at mushroom picking

Although i spent many an early sunrise morning with my dear dad picking mushrooms i cant remember the good from the bad. My father has since passed away and i miss those foraging days. So how can i find a local group that will teach me again which to pick. Preferbly in the surrounding London areas.

First read the "stickies" at the top of the forum, then have a look at Association of British Fungus Groups

Hi Sarah

This forum is more about looking than picking. Still if you look around the fungi sub-forum, you will slowly learn to recognise the good and the bad (stay away unless you have a microscope) varieties you remember from yesteryear, with the additional help of a book on the subject (e-bay)

Even the Association of British Fungal Groups are not THAT irresponsible, for picking for the pot is frowned upon there too, although taking home a couple of edibles is not going to turn that many heads. But if any group discover that is all you are interested in you will not be welcome at future forays.
