Number 6
I do not know what books you are using but Blushing bracket grows mostly on Willow and the pores are elongated to slot like 1 - 4 mm long and they blush when bruised. This is why it is called the Blushing Bracket. Correct me if I am wrong but I suspect your specimen has none of these features which makes me think you are not looking very hard. If you just match up to pictures you are not going to learn very much!
A clue to number 6, I think you will find it has tiny circular pores 3 to 4 per mm and was growing on Birch, Am I correct? If so it is Piptoporus betulinus.
Peter

| | | Re: Fungi ID help please Hello Kevbert,
To start, I strongly advise you to read this sticky near the top of the list of threads entitled, Sticky: Help us to help you identify fungi by fungi John.
If you can take notes next time you photograph fungi that would really help us immensely to try to identify your photos.
Cheers,
Neil. |

1- A Russula
2- dunno, need a gill shot
3- Daedaleopsis confragosa. Note Peter's description of 'slot-like' gills - I think there are as many records on Birch as there are on Willow though (but I haven't counted )
4- One of those boring brown Lactarius species. If you break a bit you'd find it produces milk. Yawn.
5- Rings a bell.....
6- Yep.
7- P.betulinus as Peter has said.
8- Looks rather vivid & chunky for M.pura - maybe M.rosea?
9- Another Leccinum like number 6.
Cheers, Nick.

Number 6 - yes, it's growing on Birch. The area where I was look for fungi was mainly covered with Birch and Sweet Chestnut trees.
I take another look at the Stickies.
Cheers
