Then it dried up and looked dead. Today I was surprised to see it all grown again, see below.
Is this a normal cycle of events? |

Is this a normal cycle of events? | yes - these are are not necessarily the same fruitbodies you saw in July of course; the 'business end' of the fungus is ever-present in the wood;when conditions are suitable fruitbodies are produced

well,, someone may hear one of its common names in passing, and later learn its place in the "Linnaeus System" , its classification and Latin name , and so on. In this case, Auricularia auricula-judae . It's all a process of learning. How we learn about fungi/fungus to begin with,, often via the common tongue. (now wash thou mouth out with soap and water).. lol
