| | | Hygrocybe phaeococcinea and some others Found my first Hygrocybe phaeococcinea yesterday, no photos .. hadn't got my camera, but will go back today and try to find them again. I think I left a couple behind. Apparently they are widespread but overlooked in the UK.
And Entoloma caesiotinctum - one of the few Entoloma that are not quite so difficult to identify as they have blue-edged gills.
Both of these on heathy ride edges of Forestry Commission coniferous woodland. They seem to be good remnants of unimproved grassland, and the fungi don't seem to mind the regrading that is done from time to time - I notice this with the orchids and other flowers that grow on them too, they seem to thrive with the occasional regrading and the topping up of lime chippings.
Also Guepinia helvelloides, again no photo from this year, but from last year this is what they look like ...
And one of the Russulas that is easy to id without microscopy - Russula sardonia, found under pine. Gills turn a very satisfying pink when ammonia is put on them.
I'll try to get photos of them all, as they are rather colourful.

Melanie | Hi Melanie
My last post before I venture north later today and Guepinia helvelloides is high on my list!
Many thanks for all the local information, hopefully I can add a few records to the ever growing 'Yorkshire' list

Plus a few other rather colourful ones - Guepinia helvelloides (a different one, a few dozen metres away from the other) - Russula sardonia Entoloma caesiocinctum. Blue edged gills showing nicely. These were found on a different path from those of the other day. Hygrocybe cantharellus. I couldn't find any more Hygrocybe phaeococcinea, but not far away were two of these.
And continuing the pink theme, Gomphidius roseus.
And a very frilly Laccaria laccata
And to somber things up a bit, a blackish Peziza
Melanie
