Hi gobbiner I'm sure Neil isn't having a go. Like you I am trying to learn a bit about fungi but the main thing I've learnt is that it is very difficult to ID a fungus macroscopically from a single image. The elements which are essential to give these guys a chance are substrate, location, gill attachment, smell, taste (carefully) etc. which are all laid out in the sticky. This info will help them get to genus but in many cases don't expect species as this can only be achieved microscopically. Help them to help you, you have a cracking lens in the 100mm so macro shots of the gills, stipe etc. should be easy to achieve. Enjoy your learning but I know it's a steep curve

I've just realised that perhaps you mean you have not been able to find the relevant sticky - if so, my apologies - I am pretty dumb when it comes to working my way around computer sites and I do not know how to put a link to the sticky here, so if you do have a problem finding it, perhaps someone else can place a link for Gobbiner to click onto ?

Then that's a pity, you don't need to be computer literate to know a great deal about fungi but I am sure that there are others willing to help but at least consider helping them as much as possible.
