A slender Parasol
I found this solitary specimen in open woodland amongst broadleaf trees. It was fairly small, standing at around 13-15cm. The cap had patchy large, brown scales and a very prominent umbo.

I've never seen a parasol like this one before and I'm thinking it could well be Macrolepiota mastoidia. Am I close?

I saw a whole field of these a few years ago and your description of being in a woodland opening also fits the bill.
