| | | Re: Hello Hi
And welcome to WAB Fungus forum.
If you need to post any photos for ID, download to Images (not the Gallery) read all the download instructions first. Try to get as much detail and aspects as possible i.e. Top, underside, etc,
Also give as much information as possible, Habitat, texture, smell, size. Many fungi require a microscope to identify the species correctly, but there are plenty of common ones that can be identified from good clear photographs and good information.
Also read the third topic from page one 'Help us to help you identify fungi'
Also search the threads for recent discussions on suitable books:

| | | Re: Hello Hi Spenny, and a big welcome to WAB.
My advice to any newbie is to read the sticky's first (the permanent posts at the top explaining 'How you can help us get an ID for your fungus' and what is, and what is not allowed to be written, regarding edible/poisonous fungi) - basically, it's a necessary disclaimer to protect WAB in case of a poisoning incident.
We look forward to seeing any photos of fungi you would like to be identified, but try to make sure they are in focus and include a shot of the underside as well so that we can see if they have gills (and what colour) or pores.
Neil.

I think your time spent on here will leave you wishing you had joined a forum many years ago
I hope you find WAB as helpful as I have since I recently joined.

| | | Re: Hello Thankyou all for the warm welcome , I shall hopefully get the hang of this soon ! So far I have only had a couple of books and the River Cottage Mushroom DVD to refer to , so am hoping this forum will help me . Didnt realise how massive and confusing the world of fungus is I live in the fens of Cambridgeshire and am only 45 mins drive from Thetford forest , where I have booked on a couple of forays in the autumn, once again thanks .
