I think something else:

You have not given much information

Fungi from totally different groups can look similar when immature.

Was the texture jelly like and attached to rhizomorphs (long white strands) If so it is the 'Egg' of a Stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus) If not possible a very young fruit body of an Amanita species.

It would have been better if you had cut it half lengthways and posted a photo of the interior structure as they are very different.

Hi Ditola,

I know nothing about fungi, a family member sent me the photo asking if anyone knew what it was. I have only ever seen the photo posted, it just looked like a fungi to me and from google images I looked at UK egg shaped fungi and though the best fit was the shaggy ink cap.

All I know is it was found on the West Coast of Scotland Today. I joined this forum Today to ask if anyone had any ideas, thanks for the feedback it's appreciated.
