I found this yesterday, close to birch, spruce and larch, with
Leccinum versipelle and
Amanita fulva. Pictures not very good as it was dusk, so apologies.

It had the jizz of an Amanita, rather like
A fulva, and did seem to have a volva, but the stem had also delaminated a bit at the base so difficult to tell if it really was a volva. Stem had an orange tint to it, especially near the base, and the gills cream coloured (looks a bit pinkish in the photos, but in good daylight is a warm cream)
No distinctive smell, spores weren't amyloid. Spores were globose, 10.5-12.5um, averaging at 11.5um.
I'm wondering if it is just a very dark
Amanita fulva as I haven't found anything else that fits better .... All thoughts welcome.
Thanks
Melanie
