| | | Spinellus sp on Canus Here I think is one of the Spinellus sp on Mutinus caninus (Burnham Beeches last year)
Was speaking with someone about this association of Spinellus & Phallaceae, & they thought it was potentially rare or possibly even unrecorded.
(I would of thought that suprising)
I really wouldn't know where to begin to research the associations of parasitic mold on fungi ???
Would obliged if anyone could offer their thoughts.
Many thanks
David

| | | Re: Spinellus sp on Canus Hello,
never have heared of Spinellus on Mutinus.
Collections are mostly from Mycena, also from Collybia/Gymnopus/Rhodocollybia, rarely also on Amanita.
There are more then one species of Spinellus growing on fungi, may be it is not S. fusiger?
best regards,
Andreas

I had described it as S. fusiger on another site.
But like most of these micro fung, I'm never 100% sure on species.
Thanks for you response

| | | Re: Spinellus sp on Canus hi Spinellus (there are 3 species I think) is a parasite of agarics; this is clearly a member of the Mucorales, but you'll never get a name from a macro-shot I'm afraid
it's interesting the way that the sporangiophores are only appearing on the fertile portion of the host . . . . .

Hello Chris
I've been told that there are 5 species
S. fusiger S. chalybeus, S. macrocarpus, S. gigasporus and S. arvernensis.
It was also sugested to me that the association was just with Agarics, guess it's not as fussy as thought.
thanks for the reply
