| | | Re: ID help please hi
fungus 1 is surely Coprinopsis atramentaria (common ink-cap) and I strongly suspect that so is the bottom one - pity the images won't zoom - gills don't quite look right . . . . (I always check the spores to make 100% certain as it's so straightforward, but . . . . . )
was there something to make you think there were two different species involved?
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: ID help please The photos were taken at totally different locations and approx 6 weeks apart, growing on totally different hosts.
I would never have guessed they were the same. |

| | | Re: ID help please The first seem to be either Coprinellus domesticus or just plain C.micaceus.
For the second, again I disagree with Chris as I do not believe these caps are grooved enough for Coprinopsis atramentarius although they certainly do grow in clumps like this.
So I pass on this one.

| | | Re: ID help please I would agree with Neil that the first species is Coprinellus domesticus but the second I would say is a Psathyrella I don't see much deliquescing going on?? As would be the case with C. atramentarius.

Chris | Sounds like you've been chewing the cud Chris. Or if you prefer your own language: De veteri et de novo testamento

Translation would be a bonus. | It's the earliest known written reference to the term 'chewing the cud'
