| | Inkcaps found on horse dung. I know these are ink caps but wondering which type exactly, they were very waxy when picked to examine. Also they gills were black i know the edibility is a no no, just curious on the name? They were found 2 weeks ago around straw and horse dung from a nearby farm, and there were no tree's around the area.
Thanks for your time. |

I've never seen them so early in the year, and anyway, I've given up being too definite about IDs. I get too many wrong! |

C
for what it's worth there is an April record of this in Yorkshire (way back in 1920 though . . . .)

| | | Re: Inkcaps found on horse dung. Thanks for all your replys, yeah when picked they left a waxy snowy residue on your my hands heh.
Yeah they do seem ghostly don't they! i saw them from a fair distance away, there were about 15 fully growen ones and about 10 small ones started to grow. I was shocked at how many there were, i had a common ink cap in a bacon sandwich before and they were yummy! But these simular mushrooms did not look so good at all!
All my pics are taken on my phone it has a 5 mega pixel camera. |

| | | Re: Inkcaps found on horse dung. I think they're brilliant pictures considering they're taken on a mobile. The ghosting is simple lens flare, I think. This is often a hazard with an unshielded lens (no lens hood) and/or with a lens of relatively simple construction, plus we all tend to get fingerprints on our mobile camera lens. It just happens.
Still - good photos taken clearly with a steady hand !
