| | | What Fungi is on my newly purchased land?? Hello, I'm new to Wild About Britain.
I recently bought a large piece of land in Hampshire off a couple who had kept horses and plan on putting following their footsteps.
Was around the field when I noticed quite a large grouping of Fungi. I'm no exert and have no idea what they are, so was hoping someone here could help?
I didnt have my camera on me so I picked them and bought them home. The fungi on the right have gone a fair bit darker since picking and the ones on the left look about the same.
any suggestions?
Thanks |

| | | Re: What Fungi is on my newly purchased land?? hi and welcome to WAB
if we're being strictly accurate it's "what fungi are . . . ." because we are dealing with at least two species here
the smaller of the left hand ones is almost certainly Stropharia semiglobata and the one next to it could be a larger fruitbody of that species; the other two look like Panaeolus species (one or - probably - two species here; accurate ID's usual require microscopy)
these are fungi typical of dung-y pastureland
cheers
Chris

Thank you for your speedy response and grammatical correct, i apologise in the unlikely event that I have caused offence.
Good to know, I couldn't work out what they were!
Until I came to WAB I had no idea just how diverse this all is! (stupid city dweller!)

| | | Re: What Fungi is on my newly purchased land?? I agree. I would think the two on the right are Panaeolina foenisecii and Panaeolus papilionaceus. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
