| | Most peculiar mould ? I found this strange growth in my rotting log pile yesterday and its got me beat.
I thought it a slimemould at first, some branched stemonitis perhaps or arcyria, but now not sure - it doesnt seem right.
Lots of spores shook off when it was picked up.
It seems to largely radiate out from the birch woodwart and sticking up too, like coral, but I notice it seems to have green moss-like fronds too.
Is it a mould like botrytis type, colonising some mossy growth , as its been wet, warm and dark in the log pile?
Or is at a slime, or what!?
Oh and finally, any ideas on this Mollisia?

Thanks a lot, grateful for any help/steer.
Cheers
Ken

Most interesting stuff - this link also goes back to a thread when Andreas , you and Melanie plus others of course got involved with a similar request from John. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...nomycetes.html
The upshot seems to be that its the anamorphic state of the Hypoxylon, but similar to Nodulisporium umbrinum which may thus be the same thing.
Glad its not just me not knowing this one.
Cheers
Ken
