Having done a bit of research after your comments John I am actually thinking my specimens look more like agrocybe aegerita....... Stewart

Having seen these photos I'm going to have to take you more seriously John, there is a very real similarity I must admit, and you did well to spot that from day 1.
And here's me thinking they have to be something special.
Umm....... I think you can ease up on the watering a bit now Stew.

OK So the exitement is over, but I thought I would share todays picks, helped along by some welcome rain over the weekend (Yippie, about half a dozen stinkhorns popped up in my local woods this morning), they are already looking much more the like the older specimens in John's picture, good work John, you truely are a master at this.....
