That thread title takes me back. One of my earliest posts on WAB was an "Is this a fungus?" post, which FungiJohn answered for me. That one was Daldinia concentrica but this one is probably not so obvious - at least, not to me!
At Priory Water last Saturday I found this dance fly, very dead and with what look like white crystals growing out of it... 
Here's a crop but not the sharpest of images... 
I'm fairly sure the answer is yes, it is a fungus. But would anyone care to suggest which one?

Hi Dave
Very likely a parasitic Entomophthora type fungus.

Thanks John. I should have collected the specimen and wheedled someone into doing the microscopy for me!

Thanks Chris. I've been Googling for Entomophthorales and E. muscae certainly looks like a strong contender.
