If you left some in its location and can remember where it was, maybe check it again in the autumnn when it might have some ascospores. I'm intrigued by the fact that yours and mine did not have the typical conidia, which just makes me wonder if it is one of Xylaria that is a Xylaria hypoxylon look-alike, but which can be told apart by a difference in ascospore size.
Mine were from last year, but I remember the place, and they were part of a log jam in the stream which might still be there. If so I'll keep monitoring them.

Happy to accept that this is a photo of the condidial stage but it does look a bit like single spored basidia too

Mal | I agree, Mal. I don't know how you would easily distinguish them. Perhaps staining would show up additional features?
