
This was from Sept 30th, in mixed plantation (Wykeham Forest). These are the only photos I have, and I didn't take notes. Surrounding trees will have been birch, oak, pine, spruce, larch, and maybe some others. I didn't look at it too carefully at the time as the yellow stem made me think of
Pluteus romellii, which I'd found a few times (on wood chip though), and I was inundated with fungi that day. However, looking at the photos, and double checking mine and other people's
P romellii photos, it doesn't look like it at all, but looks like a
Tricholoma to me.
Tricholoma portentosus looks like a possibility.
Anyone well acquainted with
Tricholoma portentosus? Or any other ideas of what it might be?
