| | | The thread I've been dreading posting some of you will know Cybershot aka David from these forums and some of you will know him as the towering ginger haired fellow with a real passion for fungi, possibly from walks or forays in Minley Wood and around the local area in Hampshire and Surrey.
He's always been generous with his time, his knowledge and himself and known for a fondness of apres foray lunch and beers
David has been fighting esophageal cancer (or "Goliath" the tumour as he liked to call it) since diagnosis last summer and I am gutted to say that after falling asleep this Saturday evening he's finally taken flight this morning and won't be returning to us again.
Davids blog can be found here for those wanting to read through, it says a lot of how he faced Goliath head on and didn't bow down til the last second. You Win Again
Anyone needing additional info can IM me and I'll pass it on when I have more to convey.
Trevor

| | | Re: The thread I've been dreading posting Oh no...... That's awful awful news. I have never met him, but was more than aware of his presence here and photography. Always seemed like a nice man.
hadn't even known he was Ill...
I'm so sorry what a loss to us all and I can only send my thoughts to his closer friends and family. Hopefully eventually the countryside and wildllife he appreciated can offer healing to the hurt in time.

David will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him, and by all those wabbers who had "cyber-corresponded" with him.
My heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends.
With kindest regards,
Mike. |

Great bloke, sadly missed.

So much of the Fungi A to Z is down to David's efforts and many hours of adding and verifying data.
Twice he was unfortunate not to be able to attend the Clumber foray weekend, and I really thought that this year would see him turn up as though he had never missed a one!
Please pass on my sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Best Wishes - John |
