Can someone please tell me if this is a fungi and what it might be please??  
It's growing in amongst some flowers we planted in the front garden.

I think I can say these are Morchella esculenta. Morel to you and me

Sorry just looking around the web, is this not a British species? Most sites keep referring to California.

I have been looking at the records of the hampshire fungus recording group and it shows a few in the greater winchester area. Not to sure how many there are country wide.
