fruiting bodies - out-of-"season"

hi folks!

a few years ago i gathered a few Blue Legs (lepista saeva) in May.
spotted them in cow pasture near Devizes, Wilts while out surveying for badgers.

thats probably my most unusual sighting.

love to read about your biggest "wrong" time of year surprises!

an interesting read. no other early (or late?) field blewit sightings there though.
wondering how unusual my find was then?

Any field blewit would be unusual for me as I have never found one!

However, I did once (about 5 years ago) find two Boletus Edulis on the 5th May. One fruit body was very large and maggot ridden and almost certainly first appeared during April! I've looked in this spot every year since and there has never been another one appear before August.
