| | | Morels 2011 On an excellent foray with John, Les and Steve, we found several Morchella elata growing on dead Ash
It can only get better from now on

So John, how about organising a spring WAB foray next year?

Dave P. | Thanks again Dave
Unfortunately a spring WAB foray would be out of the question and for good reasons.
• Morels can be fairly unpredictable as to when they appear
• It may be the only real interesting fungus found on the day
• Habitats supporting morels, especially M. esculenta, Verpa conica and Mitrophora semilbera are really sensitive to 'heavy' disturbance. Compacting the ground around these species would have a detrimental effect
• It's not wise to advertise locations of morels, it only takes one person to 'tell the world' and you've lost a morel area forever!
• I don't have enough blind folds to go round
Hope you understand

It wasn't really a serious request as I know how sensitive - in more ways than one - these areas are. I shall be content with the wonderful images that you and the others post up here.

Yes, the BMS are running some spring forays and 'asco' workshops organised by Carol Hobart. Check their website.
Thanks for your comment on my image and I hope you find some too

Rather small so hopefully better images once they "grow up".
