| | | Re: Which Mushroons are these? hi
as ever, gill shots would help tremendously
the second one has remnants of a veil around the cap edge so couldn't be a Mycena - I would suspect it's dark spored, probably a Psathyrella
I think the bottom one is Pholiota aurivella
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: Which Mushroons are these? Hi Chris, thanks for that. As we were going through the photos I commented to my husband that it would help if we had the underside, he said that you would have to uproot them to do that & that would be a shame. I agree, I guess we will just have to continue making life hard for ourselves or of course look very carefully & take notes
Thanks for taking the time to have a look.

Actually picking them is not really 'a shame' they're only the fruits after all, and by the time they get to this stage will have released huge numbers of spores. You are not damaging the fungus any more than picking apples damages the tree.
If I collect material it's usually because it's unusual (or at least unfamiliar to me) and I'm taking it home to do the microscopy; really interesting collections I dry and keep - they will end up in a local or national herbarium eventually. If I'm picking something just to check it in the field I then hang it at head height in a nearby bush so it can release a few more thousand/tens of thousands of spores.
If you feel bad about it then only pick one if there are several fruiting bodies . . . .
Chris Edit or carry a small mirror

That`s great info Chris, we will consider picking ones that are abundant and then hanging them out to spore. As you can tell we are novices but enjoy our nature watching immensly & would not want to cause any damage
Many thanks for you expertise
