Number two is a poor photograph but it looks a bit like the Neodasyscypha cerina that Fungi Jonh Found and is on the current page 2 of the Gallery

Hi Ken,

I think Peter may well be correct with his suggestion. - I took a small sample of this home on Sunday.

Didn't get anywhere in terms of any decent photographs of it, but while I was examining it under the lens, it did strike me that it looked identical to the shots of Neodasyscypha cerina that FungiJohn had recently uploaded.

I know that macro features alone aren't enough to be certain, but the likeness to John's photographs is spot on.

Don't know why your third photo hasn't shown as a thumbnail, but clicking on the little red "X" icon still brings up the full size photo.

Thanks all, I knew I'd seen something similar, John (+ Les) seem to be finding some terrific little things these days.
Age Chris, and a muddied memory and knowledge.
I'll try again with the last shot - Is this nectria peziza?

The more I look at the first one, the more I am convincing myself it looks like Lachnum virgineum (Dasyscyphus virgineus)

The third one does look like some photos I've seen of Nectria pezizia but then there are others that don't particularly look like this.

(Of course we don't know how many of the photos on the web have been misidentified either - and I do appreciate that those with more experience will reaffirm that microscopy would be the order of the day for certain identification).

Do you know Mike, you might well be right, it may be at an early stage then unfurls into the normally seen cup with hairy bits, hopefully someone with experience of these will be able to correct our (well mine anyway) aimless wanderings.......................!

so do I - (only just looked at it and sorry to say this looks nothing like a Nectria)

Thanks for contributions everyone.
I must admit I thought it was D. stillatus, but it seemed a bit strange, so thats why I asked - a bit dry explains a bit different appearance on this one. I never really thought it Nectria Chris, just trying to launch a debate....................
