Possibly Mycena clavularis ? (ID Help Request)

Found today: -



Growing deep within the damp environs of a pile of heaped up twiggy debris from various deciduous trees.

Largest cap size approximately 2mm across. stipes to approximately 12mm tall.

Several other examples were found on adjacent twigs, (within the pile), most of the fruitbodies found had hairy bases to the stipes, but a few individuals had small basal discs evident.

Only one I can see with similar macro characteristics is Mycena clavularis, but my books suggest that it wouldn't be expected at this time of year.

Any thoughts on ID much appreciated.

I think you will need the microscope for this one!

It could be Mycena clavularis, but it could also be a species of Delicatula or one of the many Hemimycena's

Thanks Peter - I was being optimistic (yet again) in thinking this might be identifiable on macro characteristics alone.
