| | | Help with Micro fungi ID Please This fungus is approx 1mm high and 0.5mm across. It is growing on dead stems of Common Hogweed (I am pretty sure it is Hogweed).
It starts of white but turns yellow at maturity.
I spent a considerable time looking for asci, but then to my surprise found two seperate basidia with four spores attached and other basidia The spores are pip-shaped and 7-9 x 4.5-5.0 microns
Any ideas?
Peter

I think you may be right; the spores are the right shape and size and it has been recorded on hogweed in Cornwall, also the immature specimens in photos on the net do look similar. I will keep the stem moist and see if they develop further.
I note that in Funga Nordica they lump the two together as C.capula which can be white or yellow! but it is still seperated in the BMS database.
