| | | Re: Need ID please Hello,
looks as if they were frozen once and thawed again? At least they look quite old and water soaked. May be that are the ruins of Lepista nebularis, but I would not bet my head for it .....
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Need ID please Very possible that it had recently thawed, it was very saturated. I think you may be right, I was thinking a Clitocybe of some description myself, but was getting thrown off by the wavy margin. Thanks |

| | | Re: Need ID please hi
any possibility these were - had been - on wood? I'm wondering whether this could be Pleurotus cornucopiae; unfortunately the key character of anastomosing gills can't really be seen here, but it's a more likely species in this country at this time of year; the gills don't look as crowded/numerous as I'd expect in C. nebularis
just a thought
Chris

| | | Re: Need ID please I don't know if it just seems that way because there's a tendency to notice the 'out of season' ones but these fungi seem to have their timings a bit muddled at the moment.
Lepista nuda/sordida last week and this weekend saw a fair few Laccaria laccata popping up.

| | | Re: Need ID please Funnily enough I did find some Pleurotus cornucopiae about 30 feet from where I found these, but these were growing on the ground, in leaf litter, underneath a Cypress. Apologies for the lack of signifying pictures, I think if I'd have moved it at all it would have disintegrated. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
