| | | unidentified purple bracket Looking thro some old images came across this one which I never got round to indentifying wondered if anyone could help,Its probably very common but I have never seen another with such vivid colour. |

If it is, it is certainly one that I would like to find! - Nice photograph!

Trichaptum abietinum has similar purple colours but I am not sure if there are other possibilities. With Bracket fungi it always helps to let us know what tree the fungus is growing on.

It is difficult to judge the true size of the fungi from the photo.

| | | Re: unidentified purple bracket Just checked thro my log for where and when I took this image and suspect tree species was a pine and the trunk size was aprox 80 cm diameter (to give some idea of scale) and it was in Essex.Many thanks for your efforts any further comments would be appreciated. |
