| | | New Year Happy New Year to all our readers
I braved the elements for the first time yesterday and although there was not a lot about after a month of verrrrrry low temperatures I did find a few "goodies"
Gloeophyllum sepiarium
Ishnoderma benzoinum with a beautiful sweet anis like smell even from this small young specimen
Panellus serotinus which was past its best
and a kebab filling Pleurotus (oops did I say that).
Now for those bl......dy scarlet elf cup things that everyone else seems to find

| | | Re: New Year A New Year, but not very different to the end of last year, the snow has returned here today ... not that it had gone yesterday but at least there had been the start of some small green/brown patches appearing, and some tarmac where the lane should be. So not really worth even looking for fungi yet |

| | | Re: New Year I did manage to find some remains of pre frost fungi and some fresh Flamulina velutipes but as for Scarlet Elf Cup, I think we`re too far north to see anything yet Mal.

| | | Re: New Year Didn't find anything as interesting as those on our New Year's Day walk at Trent Park, but thought I'd take snaps of them all anyway
Mycena probably galericulata
Waterlogged Clitocybe nebularis
Defrosted Collybia ( I think)
Stereum
Xylaria
And of course Piptoporus betulinus, this one a bit beaten up by someone (some strange people around)
Still waiting for the Flammulina that appears every year in profusion on a log opposite where I wait for the train to appear but nothing yet....

| | | Re: New Year I just thought you might appreciate this Mal , from new years eve.
It helps to know regular sites - these were still under mossy covered rotting branches/logs, so I just unfurled the moss a little.
On the down side, no flammulina/velvet shank spotted yet either laura, which is a bit strange.
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: New Year Thanks for that Ken much appreciated
To have regular sites you need to have found them in the first place

| | | Re: New Year F.velutipes appearing almost everywhere today down in West Sussex.
What kind of habitats am I likely to find Sarcoscypha in?
Cheers, Nick. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
