Interesting feature of Entoloma
Found in October in a mixed plantation of saplings, I think this is an Entoloma. The newly emerged fungus, bottom right, appears to be growing from a sheath. I`ve only seen this with Amanita and Volvariella. Anybody like to comment?

certainly looks entoloma, maybe wood pinkgill, but its a good ask, wait and see............................

Why did you rule out Volvariella? I can't make out clearly the gill attachment from the photo, whether the gills are free or not, but perhaps that is the reason?

Here`s a better gill shot Melanie. I do struggle a bit with gill attachment but I would have said emarginate or adnexed.
