| | Fungi i.d. please - agaricus bohusii? Took these pics on Mon. in pouring rain. Please help!
It looks likes A. Bohusii but doesn't tick all the boxes, but I'm learning that fungi can still be a certain type and differ slightly from pics/archives.
It was growing in well rotted horse manure at a a stables, Himalayan Balsam (boo!) had been growing there all summer. Some mushrooms had spilled onto canal tow path and were huge, size of a dinner plate. Gills pristine white. Cap white/brown mottle/scales, with the young caps very round and the size of a grapefruit. Standing up to 20cm tall, sturdy stalk with fringe. Smell mushroomy, slightly aniseed. Thought it might be a horse mushroom, but they don't have the brown scales do they? And it really was huge. Sadly had been broken by someone/thing.
If it is A. Bohusii then I believe it is quite rare in the UK. If it is a horse mushroom then I feel a bit of a numpty |

| | | Re: Fungi i.d. please - agaricus bohusii? Hi, it looks very much like the 20 or so growing around my garden right now ranging in size from around 4" to 7" across, and is, i think Chlorophyllum rhacodes (was known as Macrolpiota rhacodes previously )

| | | Re: Fungi i.d. please - agaricus bohusii? It has been said before but if you leave a cap to drop the spores the colour can tell you a lot. Agaricus dark brown Chlorophylum white.
