| | | Macrotyphula fistulosa? Hi all,
I found a dozen or more of these this afternoon growing in long grass/leaf litter at the edge of a field close to an overgrown ,predominantly hazel, hedge. They appeared to be growing from the soil, but it is quite possible that there was wood buried beneath the surface. It was too dull and windy to get an in situ picture.
They were growing both singly and in small groups and varied from about 80 to 250mm tall, this being one of the taller ones.
My best guess is Macrotyphula fistulosa, but wonder what others think.
regards

| | | Re: Macrotyphula fistulosa? I went back and got a shot of two in situ, showing that they are on dead wood.
I also found this one nearby which looks like web pictures of v. contorta,

| | | Re: Macrotyphula fistulosa? I found some today growing in a mixture of pine and beech litter. I checked the spores of mine. And one of mine was 130mm long. But how can you tell apart M fistulosa and M juncea otherwise?
