Collybia?

This one has caused me some headache simply finding which group it belongs to (and yet I bet it's obvious to some of you but certainly not to a novice like myself

). I'm reckoning it's a Collybia and I'd even hazard C. maculata.

Found under beech growing from the leaf litter. Apologies for the first two pics being slightly over exposed

I've just checked the three books I use to help ID (none have it as Rhodocollybia but as Collybia so I assume that's a recent change?) and in all three they are extremely variable in appearance but I'd have to say the description fits (just not the bloomin' photos

).

that variability is quite marked in this species, and you only gain a picture of that with time . . . . (though cap texture is usually a giveaway); also, never forget that the books and websites (quite reasonably) try to show specimens at their freshest and best - this is not always how we find them!
