Phellodon?

Hi All,

I photographed this fungus today in the woods. It was growing on dead wood. Would anyone know what it is? The only thing that looks like it in my books is a Phellodon of some sort.

Any comments would be most welcome.

Hi Quin,

Phellodon are a genus of toothed fungi. Did you turn this over and if so, did it have teeth rather than pores? From glancing at the first image, I'd say this was porous. No idea what it is, but I think we can rule out Phellodon at an early stage

I think this could well be Bjerkandera adusta - no way is is it a Phellodon

Thanks guys! I'll try to get back to to the woods where I found it to take another look at the under side of the fungus more closely. Thanks for the pointers too, I'll check into Bjerkandera adusta to see.
