Peter Thwaites - superb fungi artist

When we were at Exbury Gardens near Southampton last week we saw a small exhibition in the Gallery there of the most amazing mushroom paintings by the Dorset-based artist Peter Thwaites. He was commissioned to create artwork for a poster of common species for the BMS and has for sale prints, notecards, postcards and a superb 2011 calendar all available online (just 'Google' his name or PM me for the link).

I just thought if some of you were not already aware of his work you may be as impressed as we were and that with Christmas coming up a Fungi card or calendar might just solve that difficult presi problem for yourself or a fungi-friend! I have no connection with this artist other than just to have come across his work completely by accident when we were visiting a garden before attending a Celtic-rock gig in Southampton last Friday night! We were chatting to his wife and she told us he only paints specimens he has found himself, which he always collects with a few leaves/twigs etc. to indicate habitat. In my 'umble opinion the results speak for themselves.
