| | | Cortinarius? Ok, I know it's hard to pin down these even with a microscope but I think I've confused myself. A small part of me wondered if it's actually Inocybe (again a pain to identify). Found at a couple of sites on the reserve, each time under Scots Pine. The less opened caps appeared to have an umbo which eventually flattened out completely. To me the caps looked fibrous, hence why I wondered if it's Inocybe but the less open caps had apparent webbing which is why I'm asking is it a cortinarius. I didn't take back any for further study simply because I've yet to purchase my microscopeand necessary literature.
So I'm hoping to be merely a fool for a minute and ask rather than be a fool for a lifetime (although the girlfriend thinks me incurable )

| | | Re: Cortinarius? Hello David,
definitely an Inocybe species and no Cortinarius. May be it's I. flocculosa, but there are several other similar species which as well are possible.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Cortinarius? Thankyou Andreas,
I should have listened to that small part of me suggesting Inocybe but thankyou for confirming it. I. flocculosa seems a possible match (I've read that it can be rarely found under pine, more common with deciduous) but as you say there several Inocybe species similar. I'm just glad to know what group it belongs to
Many thanks, David | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
