| | | Runcorn Fungi (2) I returned, today, (26th October) to the spot I described yesterday, (grassy/mossy location in Runcorn) and in the pouring rain I picked a few specimens and photographed them when I got home. There were many more including boletes, coprinus, lycoperdons etc but I was getting wet, so these will do for now. Any ideas anyone? Possibly a geoglossum, poison pie and cortinarius. The white specimen was interesting - in several clusters, the stipes in each cluster seemed to be fused together. Stipe of separated specimem also hollow at base. Found under hawthorns. The pics show the collection and the white cluster.

| | | Re: Runcorn Fungi (2) Hello,
the clustered white one looks very much like Lyophyllum connatum. It should give a violet reaction on FeSO4 on the cap.
The decoration around the cluster on the first pictures consists of a small Galerina, several Cortinarii, Hebeloma mesophaeum and a white gilled agaric.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Runcorn Fungi (2) Thank you Andreas. Spore prints now done. The spore print of the clustered white fungi is white so I think you are right with Lyophyllum connatum. Hebeloma mesophaeum - yes- spore print is rusty coloured. The spore prints of the umbo pair on the right are brown. The spore print of the fungus left of the hebeloma is whitish. Spore print of large fungus at the top (cortinarius?) is brown. Thank you once again.
